How we create impact
We believe the most effective healthcare solutions are shaped by the communities they serve.
Ear Foundation Australia partners with families, schools, and local health services to deliver personalised care that responds to community needs, builds local capabilities, and supports children to thrive through culturally safe, community-led care.

The case for early intervention
Children who cannot hear, cannot learn.
With up to 90% of brain development happening in the first 2,000 days, clear hearing is essential for building language, literacy, and confidence. Early detection and treatment of otitis media removes this hidden barrier, ensuring children stay on track to reach their potential.
Our impact
Advocacy and policy priorities
We support initiatives that prevent, identify and address ear disease as early as possible. By working across healthcare, education, and community settings, we help reduce the prevalence and impact of otitis media, particularly in communities where the burden is greatest.
Where a person lives should not determine the quality of care they receive. We advocate for improved access to screening, treatment, specialist services, and follow-up care so that children and families in remote and regional communities can access the support they need.
Sustainable change happens when communities are empowered to lead. We work alongside communities to strengthen local knowledge, raise awareness of ear health, and develop solutions that respond to local needs and priorities.
Strong local services depend on skilled and confident people. We invest in training, education and professional development opportunities that help health professionals, educators, and community workers to improve ear health outcomes.
Evidence drives better outcomes. We support and promote research that improves understanding of otitis media, identifies effective interventions, and informs practical solutions that can be translated into real-world impact.
Long-term change requires systemic action. We work with governments, researchers, health services ,and sector partners to advocate for policies, funding, and programs that improve ear health outcomes and reduce preventable hearing loss.
