Governance

Ear Foundation Australia is shaped and guided by the experience, knowledge and expertise of Aboriginal Elders to ensure Governance probity and accountability. Board oversight ensures that services are child and family-centered and consistent with our values of openness, loyalty, and brilliance. The Board receives regular comprehensive data reports for all regions in which Ear Foundation works detailing activity, outcomes and program performance.

Since 2015, Ear Foundation has been led by respected Aboriginal women. Our current Chair, Ms. Sue Beath, an Elder of the Kariyarra people, has extensive experience in Indigenous Education across Perth and regional WA. Her family holds an active native title claim in the Pilbara.

Previously, Dr. Carol Dowling, a Badimia/Yamatji academic and former Chair (2015-19), contributed significantly at Curtin University’s Centre for Aboriginal Studies. Deputy-Chair Dr. Julie Owen was the first Aboriginal graduate from UWA’s School of Population Health, earning a PhD in Aboriginal Health.

The Board of Directors at Ear Foundation features 50% Aboriginal representation, with Aboriginal members in key leadership roles. The Board convenes six times a year, alongside the Annual General Meeting.

Patrons Professor Harvey Coates AO and Ms. Wendy Duncan offer valuable leadership and support for clinical and regional service matters. Ear Foundation Australia is an incorporated association under the WA Associations Incorporations Act 2015.

Our Story

Reaching further.
Building trust.

Every day, we listen. We listen by showing up — alongside children, families, Elders, teachers and health workers across Western Australia. And what we hear is clear: communities deserve better health, better opportunities and better futures.
